Wilson Vineyard

A Cooler Climate Grape

Adjacent to the Sacramento River Basin, the Clarksburg AVA is significantly cooler than other areas of California’s interior – even cooler than most of Napa. Being a river basin, the soil is mostly comprised of dense clay and loam…similar to much of the Loire Valley in France. For this reason, Chenin Blanc has become Clarksburg’s calling card.

Chenin Blanc of Clarksburg

Wilson Vineyard, located in the Southern tip of the AVA where the cool Delta breeze blows strongest, has been farmed by the Wilson family for four generations and has been the source for some of the region’s most esteemed bottles for decades. Our particular block of Chenin Blanc backs directly up to the Sacramento River and can even be viewed by passing deep-water vessels.
