Robert Young Vineyards

The Original Alexander Valley Estate

Nestled in the heart of Alexander Valley, the expansive Robert Young Estate spans 448 acres and features eight distinct soil types. Since 1858, six generations of the Young family have cultivated this land, combining a deep-rooted legacy with an intimate understanding of its diverse soils. This rare combination has enabled precise vineyard mapping and the thoughtful selection of varietals tailored to each unique block.

A Cabernet Scion

In 1963, Robert Young made history by planting the first Cabernet Sauvignon vines in Alexander Valley. Today, this corner of the valley is renowned for producing powerful, structured Cabernets. Our designated Cabernet block—historically the source of their luxury cuvée named for Robert’s uncle—is planted on Speckled Loam soil, just behind the estate’s tasting room. We’re honored to work with such an iconic family and storied property.
