The Montecillo Vineyard has the oldest plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon in all of Sonoma County, and is still farmed by the legendary Chuy Ordaz…who planted these vines in 1964 on original rootstock. The vineyard sits at 1700’ of elevation along the ridgeline that divides Napa County from Sonoma County and our Cabernet Sauvignon block is only a few hundred yards removed from Napa.
The soils at Montecillo are rocky and compact, resulting in smaller yields, tiny berries and extremely concentrated fruit. The wines made from this fabulous mountain site have already shown the ability to age gracefully for decades and we consider ourselves blessed to have the opportunity to work with this legendary fruit.
